How Did Jeff Buckley Drown?

Crazy Rumors Abound

I heard a crazy rumour the other day, that Jeff Buckley drowned whilst undergoing some kind or ritualistic 'baptism'. Apparently, he was an evangelistic member of Christendom, and, it was assumed that he died when his indoctrination went wrong. This is the alleged place of the drawing:

However, according to Wikipedia, this is actually how he died:

"On the evening of May 29, 1997, Buckley's band flew to Memphis intending to join him in his studio there to work on the newly written material. The same evening, Buckley went swimming in Wolf River Harbor,[108] a slack water channel of the Mississippi River, while wearing boots and all of his clothing and singing the chorus of the song "Whole Lotta Love" by Led Zeppelin.[109] Buckley had gone swimming in the river several times before.[110] A roadie in Buckley's band, Keith Foti, remained onshore. After moving a radio and guitar out of reach of the wake from a passing tugboat, Foti looked up to see that Buckley had vanished. Despite a determined rescue effort that night as well as the morning after by scuba teams and the police, Buckley remained missing. On June 4, two locals spotted his body in the Wolf River near a riverboat, and he was brought to land."

Yep, only in America do rumours like this become reality! Just goes to show that before you listen to what flows down the grapevine, you need to check the source! Whatever, the case, Buckley's amazing talent has surely been missed. Visit our SEO blog here.

Paul McCartney Tour Dates Canada

Whilst our minds turn to the passing of Aretha Franklin, another senior member of music legendary, Paul McCartney is gearing up for a tour of Canada.

With a new album and a truckload of former hits, Sir Paul is a must see for anyone who is anyone in the music world. And, despite the enormous price of tickets, the passing of Aretha teaches us that if you want to see a music legend, they don't live forever(except in the minds and hearts of fans!)

Our Window Cleaning Perth team love the hits that Sir Paul, The Beatles, and, Wings have produced. So, if we could afford to fly to Canada(and afford the cost of tickets!), we would!

With that in mind, here are the places you need to be, in Canada, if you want to catch up with McCartney:

  • September 17 - Centre Videotron, Quebec City
  • September 20 - Bell Centre, Montreal
  • September 28 - Bell MTS Place - Winnipeg
  • September 30 - Rogers Place, Edmonton

Now, the fun bit is, paying for the tickets. You can purchase tickets here:

Aretha Franklin passes away

The Queen of Soul dies.

When it comes to Soul, there are fewer more iconic figures than Aretha Franklin. Such a long and industrious career deserves R.E.S.P.E.C.T.

I was writing this article for the site, when I realised that to get a royalty free image of Aretha online was near impossible. Such is the marketability of her profile. And, with a career spanning so many years, and, with so many iconic hits, it's no wonder!

Speaking of her hits, it all began in the year 1956 with both a single and an album released. The single "Never Grow Old", and the album "Songs of Faith" both did not chart in either the US, Canada, Australia or the UK.

It would take 6 years after this initial foray, that the album,  The Tender, the Moving, the Swinging Aretha Franklin would finally make an entry into the US charts, reaching the dizzy heights of number 69.

"I Never Loved A Way The Way I Love You" became her first album success, sharing her equal highest chart position at number 2, in 1967.

Of course, what Aretha is really known for are a handful of universally popular tracks released under the "Atlantic" label. Who can forget tracks such as "Respect", and "Chain of Fools" in 1967, or "I say a little prayer" in 1968?

In all, her main contributions spanned from 1962 until 1998, a total of 36 years. It is worthwhile noting, however, that these were just her prominent years. Her actual career spanned from 1956 until  "Rolling in the Deep"(Aretha Version) in 2014, which means that her career spanned a whopping 58 years!

Her last couple of years were marked by poor health, and she eventually turned out her studio lights on August 16, 2018
